Dr. Maksym Yakovlyev is Head of Department of International Relations and Director of School for Policy Analysis at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. He is also a member of the Public Council at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. His research focuses on political concepts and ideologies, international relations, Ukrainian identity, the (post)modern Russian imperialism, security formats for Ukraine and the transformation of world’s security architecture. He has recently started promoting development of Ukraine’s cooperation with the “Global South”. After the outbreak of the full-scale Russian invasion in Ukraine he stayed in Kyiv to observe and to study the challenges and developments in the Ukrainian society and in the international cooperation of Ukraine. He is also involved in the projects that study the needs of people in the newly liberated areas of Ukraine.
