International Relations

1

A series of research projects in the INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS line covers the role of Brazil as a state actor in different international arenas. These include the building of multilateral coalitions at the international level, votes at the UN, other dimensions of South-South relations, the question of peace zones, and armament modernization in Latin America. Another important research topic is non-state actors and international standards. These investigations refer to non-state actors and their role at the international level. This theme also covers the elaboration of international norms that refer to guarantees of labor rights, but also to environmental sustainability standards.
Other examples include studies in Human Rights, Cosmopolitanism and International Justice. Investment in research aimed at issues of justice within the scope of international society and international relations considers that the issues of poverty, socioeconomic inequality, political equality and tolerance have an increasingly important international dimension in the contemporary world.
The INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS line also shares the graduate program’s general effort to intensify training in research methodology, both quantitative and qualitative, so that the production of postgraduates can reach international standards. It should be noted that in recent years there has been a more intense effort at national and international engagement, and the faculty have participated in projects and research networks that have increased the visibility of the research line.
The IR research line has a Research Laboratory in international negotiations, the Center for the Study of International Negotiations (Caeni) (https://caeni.com.br/). In addition to a wide range of research and international exchanges, this Laboratory is dedicated to providing university extension courses in order to contribute to the international training of public managers, employees and students. The International Relations Research Center of the University of São Paulo (NUPRI - https://nupri.prp.usp.br/) brings together several research and training activities for the development of this line and has stood out in the field of security and defense, also being responsible for a prestigious publication in the field, the International Charter.
The research line INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS has seven researchers: Amâncio Oliveira; Janina Onuki; Jean Tible; João Paulo Cunha; Pedro Feliu Ribeiro; Rafael Villa; Rossana Reis
